MRIN-32 The parents of Elizabeth Raines

The parents of Elizabeth Raines

My maternal 4th great grandparents

MRIN-32

Please keep in mind that this is research in progress. I am working on gathering as many of the documents, stories and pictures as possible to put together as much of an accurate story about their lives as I can. Don’t take anything as fact until it is verified.

In the early 1920’s, the Randolph Enterprise newspaper published a series of articles written by E.C. Wyatt about the early settlers of Randolph County, West Virginia. One of those articles stated that Tobias Raines came to Randolph County in 1790 and that he had 4 daughters, one of which married John Wyatt and who was the mother of Ellis A. Wyatt.

I had not yet researched Tobias Raines for myself and had shared what was shared with me, that his wife was Elizabeth Harper. Well, thanks to newly found cousin and fellow researcher, Carolyn Boggs, who was researching them and shared with me that Tobias Raines and Elizabeth Harper married more that 40 years after Elizabeth Raines was born. After she shared that information with me I did a quick search and sure enough, the Tobias Raines that married Elizabeth Harper was not born until over 20 years after the birth of Elizabeth Raines. There may have been an earlier Tobias Raines that may be the father of women below, but I have removed the information that has proven to be false. As I research I will share what I find and hopefully together we can find the true parents of Elizabeth and her sisters.
